First Thursday Art openings in PDX

This past Thursday I went to the First Thursday art openings in Old Town PDX. They had been rescheduled to the 2nd Thursday because of the snowstorm we had, so I was even more anxious to check out the shows. I had the chance to see the work of 2 amazing artists I had admired from an online distance only (Souther Salazar and Andrea Wan). Having only seen their stuff online, it was such a joy to see it in person. It did not disappoint! Andrea had work at Compound Gallery and Souther had work at Hellion Gallery. Check these shows out if you have a chance!

Society6 2014 Calendar

I entered the call for submissions for the 2014 Society6 calendar and was accepted! As a participant I was assigned a month (October) and have my work featured for that month. There's a lot of great work in this calendar and am very happy to be included among such talent. Apparently a lot of people also liked the calendar because the limited edition of 1,000 is already sold out!

"BRINK" at Antler Gallery

Made this piece for "BRINK" which opened at Antler Gallery here in PDX at the end of January. Theme of the show was animals that are endangered, threatened, or extinct. I chose to do a drawing of a Thylacine. I had never really seen or heard of them before, and this animal popped up when researching extinct mammals. It's was the largest carnivorous marsupial, last verified sighting was in the 30's. It is also known as the Tasmanian Tiger. 20% of the sales go to the Audubon Society. So many great artists in this show and a lot of red dots! I was happy to see a red dot next to my piece as well :) Here is the drawing I created for BRINK.

Visual AIDS: Postcards From the Edge 2014

As I do every year, I participated in the Visual AIDS fundraiser show "Postcards From the Edge" this January. It's a massive show and all for a good cause. It's always in New York and this year was held at  Luhring Augustine. Here is my piece for the show, as well as some pictures from the party!
