Serpent Demon Baseball Tee

I don't know why, but it's very odd seeing models wearing clothing with my drawings on them. Just can't quite get used to that......

Tatooine

I submitted some of my artwork to be included in the art event, Tatooine. Here's a couple pics of these folks getting inked with my drawings.

"Welcomed Into the Fold By Other Strange Birds"

I did this piece for a show called "Home Is Where the Art Is" hosted by Hellion Gallery in San Diego. The gallery invited other galleries in Portland, San Diego and Tokyo to participate and invite artists of their choice. I was invited by Antler Gallery here in Portland! The lineup for the show looked amazing. So honored to have my work featured alongside such talent!

So as the name of the show hints at, each artist was asked to do a piece that represented the city they call home. My thinking with my piece was to do something about the welcoming vibe of Portland to artists. As an artist, and a newcomer to the city, I feel like I'm slowly ingratiating myself into the creative hub that Portland is. Portland prides itself on being accepting of all kinds of people, "weird" or unconventional as they may be, and I wanted to reference that with these "strange birds". The plumage of the birds is a wink and a nudge to the many hairstyles you see on people around the city. The idea of "strange birds" finding the company of other "strange birds" in Portland is pretty much what I wanted to convey.  "Diversity is good and you're welcome here!"

Finished Corpse Corps Tee Design (and process)

Below are some pictures of a t-shirt produced by Corpse Corps Boards in NY, for which I created the design. I've also posted some photos taken during the process of coming up with the design, starting with a sketch provided by the company roughly showing what they had in mind.

Original artwork and sketch for "Death Songs" album cover

When Tigers Fight "Death Songs"

Back in 2010, I created the artwork for this album called "Death Songs" by When Tigers Fight. It took a while to get released, but I'm happy with the end result. It's always fun to do artwork for a vinyl release, and I had a good amount of freedom with how I wanted the characters to look. Also, because they decided to put the album title on the back, I didn't have to worry about any of the image being obscured by text on the front. In addition to the regular pressing of the album, there is also a special release with a screen printed blue jacket using the original sketch for the cover. This is accompanied by a clear blue record with a marbled effect. Nice!

Grove bamboo iphone case

Pictures of a bamboo iPhone case produced by Grove, using my "This & That" pattern. Grove is a Portland-based company that I had the opportunity to visit recently. They're a great bunch of folks who like to do most things by hand, and produce wonderfully-crafted products such as these. They also work with different artists to create designs for their products. I'm so happy and grateful to be one of these!

You can get my design HERE!

below is the original repeating pattern I created.
